Background

UVD Robots ApS is a Danish company founded in 2016, established in Odense, Denmark followed by a successful co-development project between Blue Ocean Robotics and Odense University Hospital resulting in the distinctive UV-Disinfection Robot. The development of the UVD robot originally started in 2014, when a group of Danish hospitals demanded a far more effective way of preventing Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI’s) for the benefit of hospital staff, patients and associated healthcare costs. The effectual collaboration between virologists, bacteriologists, and hospital staff from hospitals, robot developers, engineers, designers, business people and investors from Blue Ocean Robotics led to an evolution of the UVD Robot that has set the new standards for automated and secure disinfection.

What is UVD Robot?

The Ultra Violet (UV) Disinfection Robot also known as UV-DR is an autonomous disinfection robot for hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, production lines and other industries. The robot is designed as a supplement to the existing cleaning cycle with the aim of reducing the spread of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs), infectious diseases, bacteria, viruses, pathogens and other types of harmful organic microorganisms in the environment by disbanding their DNA-structure. The robot can drive autonomously while emitting concentrated UV-C light onto pre-defined infectious hotspots in patient rooms, hospital environments and other infected areas thus disinfecting and killing virus & bacteria on all exposed surfaces. Our robots can cover almost 2000 sq. meters in approximately 90 minutes and we also have confirmations that it deactivates the corona virus by more than 99.99%. It has been clinically tested and verified at Odense University Hospital and by independent microbiological laboratories.

UVD Robot is the only technology that can autonomously enter the contaminated area to disinfect before any human gets in, which greatly reduces the chance of infecting healthcare workers and cleaning staff. It acts as an extra line of defense that can effectively save lives by stopping people from getting infected in the first place. Unlike manual sanitization, it can address critical areas like below the sink, toilets commodes, toilet paper tray etc. and gives you 360 degree disinfection coverage of an entire room. In addition, it repeats a process with absolute precision time & time again.

Deployment

UV Disinfecting Robots Deployed In Wuhan

These Robots was first imported to China, after Sunay Healthcare Supply signed an agreement with the UVD Robots in February 2020 as a part of the Chinese Government initiative to protect health workers, doctors as well as patients from Corona Virus transmission. Now, more than 2,000 hospitals in China are using these robots to ensure effective disinfection and sanitization. Currently, these robots are being used in more than 40 countries including Italy, Germany, Japan, UAE, Romania, Taiwan, Spain and Serbia to disinfect the Hospitals, work places, airports, retail industries etc. in order to break the chain of community transmission of Corona Virus. These are now also available in India through Tech Power India Pvt. Ltd.
